Dr. Varboncoeur



A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Dr. Anthony P. Varboncoeur received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1975 and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia in 1979.

He entered the United States Navy and completed a general practice residency in 1980 and an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 1986 from the Bethesda Naval Hospital. Dr. Varboncoeur remains active in the Navy and is a Captain in the Naval Reserves.

He has authored several articles and has lectured worldwide at professional meetings while stationed in the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Varboncoeur is actively involved in a variety of community and professional activities. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a Fellow of both the American Association and American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is presently the Chairman of the Dental Department at Grossmont Hospital and serves on its Surgery Supervisory and Peer Review Committee. He also is an examiner for general anesthesia licensing of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Varboncoeur is an active member of the Coronado Rotary Club. He is married to Genie and has two daughters, Lauren and Julia. Beyond his commitment to dentistry and to his family, he also enjoys running, scuba diving and golfing.
